Boost to bilateral ties with Singapore

MUSCAT: Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office, received in his office on Thursday Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs in the friendly Republic of Singapore and his accompanying delegation, within the framework of his current visit to the Sultanate.


At the beginning of the meeting, Gen Al Numani welcomed the guest, who expressed his delight to visit the Sultanate.


The meeting exchanged cordial conversations and discussed topics of concern to the two friendly countries. The meeting reviewed march of the good bilateral relations binding the Sultanate and the friendly Republic of Singapore, and means of enhancing them in all fields to serve the joint interest.


The meeting also touched on a number of issues of common concern.

Meanwhile, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, also received at the General Diwan of the ministry Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting the Sultanate.


The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between the two friendly countries and means of enhancing and developing them in various fields. They also exchanged viewpoints on a number of regional and international issues of common concern.


The meeting was attended Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al Busaidi, Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry and some officials at the ministry, as well as Teng Theng Dar, non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the Sultanate and the delegation accompanying the guest.

Later, Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications also received in his office Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting the Sultanate.


The meeting reviewed areas of cooperation and coordination in the field of transport and communications between the two friendly countries, as well as touching on a number of matters of common concern to serve the joint interests of the two sides.


Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and his accompanying delegation visited the National Museum on Thursday.


During the visit, the guest toured People, and Maritime History where the dignitary was introduced to the model of Jewel of Muscat, the ship that sailed in a historic voyage from Muscat to Singapore in 2010 with Captain Saleh al Jabri and was given as a present from His Majesty the Sultan to the friendly people of Singapore.
