MUSCAT: Dr Yahya bin Mahfoud al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, received in his office on Wednesday Jean Asselborn, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Duchy of Luxembourg, and his accompanying delegation, within the framework of his current official visit to the Sultanate. The two sides reviewed the bilateral relations and means of promoting the existing cooperation between the Sultanate and Luxembourg.
They also discussed developments of situations in the region, as well as several regional and international issues of common concern.
Dr Mantheri stressed the importance of this visit and its role in enhancing the bilateral relations and opening new tracks of cooperation between the Sultanate and Luxembourg, as well as strengthening ties and supporting existing relations between the Sultanate and the European Union (EU).
He added that the Sultanate seeks to achieve peace, security and stability at the regional and international levels.
He also praised the wise foreign policy being pursued by the Sultanate according to the wise vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos
He also highlighted the Sultanate’s efforts and its leading role in protecting the regional stability and supporting the global peace.
He added that the Sultanate is considered a role model in calling for cementing values of dialogue, tolerance and coexistence among nations. The meeting was attended by Salim bin Mohammed al Riyami and Said bin Ali al Kalbani.
Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura, also received at his office Jean Asselborn.
and enhancing bilateral cooperation in all fields including the parliamentary aspects and benefiting from the democratic experience in the two countries.
The Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura gave an overview about the stages of development of Majlis Ash’shura, highlighting its legislative and oversight powers.
The meeting also touched on the legislative and oversight tools available for the Majlis members and the role played by the committees, which are formed at the beginning of each term.
The meeting was attended by the two deputies of the Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura and Sheikh Ali bin Nasser al Mahrouqi, Secretary General of Majlis Ash’shura.
Jean Asselborn also met with Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs and held talks.— ONA
