The BIG Show 2017 showcases more than 1,000 products

Mohsin bin Mohammed al Shaikh, Muscat Municipality Chairman, officially inaugurated the 14th edition of Oman’s landmark building, construction and interior design event — The BIG Show (Builders International Gathering) — yesterday at the new Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.


The well-established annual exhibition, which has proven its worth and significance to Oman’s building and construction industry, will continue its tradition by offering the trade more than 1,000 products from various segments, such as ceramic and marble, doors and windows, kitchen and bathroom, pumps and valves, HVAC technology, pools and spa, construction equipment and tools, steel, cement, concrete, elevators and escalators and woodworking machinery from about 250 companies from 15 countries.


Highlights of the exhibition are the national pavilions of Germany, Turkey, India, Iran and China and the new dedicated Interior Design Oman pavilion, which features products from furniture and furnishing, lighting, Italian kitchen and bathroom showcase to decorative paints and objects.


Apart from the launch of the Interior Design Oman pavilion is the conference “Oman Sustainable Design Construction Forum,” which will feature local and international building and construction and design experts and policy makers from OMRAN, Al Mouj, GUTech, Daikin Middle East & Africa, Atkins, KEO International, and more. Their presentations will cover the current major projects in Oman such as Sandan City, Al Mouj and Madinat Al Irfan, sustainable architecture, Smart buildings, LEED accreditation and industry case studies.


While the industry faces many challenges, pioneer and biggest organiser Omanexpo remains optimistic that the government’s efforts to encourage private sector and foreign investment along with its continuous drive towards industrialisation and enhancing the tourism sector through investment in development projects, The BIG Show will continue to leverage business opportunities for companies and the trade as a whole.


The BIG Show will be open on March 13 to 16, 11 am to 8 pm.
