BRUSSELS: The Sultanate is an oasis of peace and authenticity in the Middle East, according to the French speaking public broadcasting Radio and Television of Belgium, called in French as RTBF. The report broadcasted by RTBF affirmed that visiting Oman leads to exploring an exceptional country in the Arabian Peninsula featured by modernity and stability. The country experiences peaceful days in a region of crises and wars. The report indicated that the number of foreign visitors to the Sultanate surged in the last three years by 5 per cent in 2017 as the number of visitors to the Sultanate hit 3.3 million.
The Belgian TV and radio said that the Sultanate came ninth in the International Ranking for Prosperous Tourism Industries according to the report published by the Global Tourism Organization (GTO) for 2017.
The report said that viewing the beauty of the Sultanate is not surprising as the journey to Oman starts in Muscat; a pure capital city on the coasts of the Sea of Oman where the visitor can enjoy serenity and visit the tourism souq to smell frankincense made in Oman. Frankincense was transported in all parts of the Arabian Peninsula and India.
The report added that before fifty years, Oman was one of the least growing countries in the world as 10 kilometres of paved roads, two hospitals and low number of schools were there. However, after His Majesty Sultan Qaboos took reins of power, he modernised the country with maintaining cultures and customs. Nowadays, wealth, roads and electricity are available wherever you go in the country as development reaches all parts of Oman.
The RTBF report affirmed that Oman is an oasis for peace as it is ranked fourth peaceful country at the global level for tourists by the World Economic Forum; a surprising ranking when viewing tension surrounding several countries in the region.
The Belgian report went on by saying that touring Jabal Shams provides the chance to see the marvellous beauty of oases, valleys, desert and splendid mountainous villages that enjoy peace with date palms. The report added that visiting Sur and its fishing harbour provided the opportunity to watch turquoise water, sailboats and traditional wood boats.
The report concluded by saying that visiting Oman is an amazing discovery for visitors to familiarise with this picturesque land featured by authenticity and cultural diversity. — ONA
