MUSCAT: Following a decision issued on May 9, 2018, The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has stopped the sale of a certain beauty cream product as it contained prohibited mercury material. The suppliers have been asked to withdraw the existing quantities of the product from all markets of the Sultanate to ensure public health safety. Anyone who violates this decision shall be subject to penalties involving a fine of not less than RO 50 and more than 1,000, which will be doubled if the offence is repeated. If the violation continues, there will be a fine of RO 50 per day and the decision will be implemented from the date of its notification.
