Batinah Expressway to be opened to traffic this year

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has said that about 77 interchanges and 41 bridges are under implementation in different governorates of the Sultanate this year. These projects are being constructed in accordance with the applicable international safety standards.


The projects being implemented this year include 23 flyovers, 67 underpasses, 34 pedestrian bridges and more than 2,900 viaducts. The first phase and part of the second phase of the Bidbid-Sur road project totaling 200 kilometres as well as the Sinaw-Mahout road (181 km) are expected to be completed in this year.


The Mirbat-Hasik road rehabilitation project is expected to completed this year, as well. The ministry has so far opened 93 kilometres of the Al Batinah Expressway and the entire road spanning 282.5 kilometres will be open to traffic this year, the ministry said.
