Bank Muscat marks graduation of 4th batch of al Wathbah Academy

MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in step with its ‘Let’s Do More’ vision and ‘Imprints’ social responsibility initiative, marked the graduation of the fourth batch of al Wathbah Academy as 14 entrepreneurs successfully completed an SME training programme to acquire accredited international certification.


The launch of al Wathbah Academy in 2014 marked a milestone in the SME development initiatives by Bank Muscat. Presently, the academy programmes are benefiting entrepreneurs across the Sultanate with three batches in Muscat, Suhar and Salalah.


The programme is targeted at Omani-owned SME enterprises with existing relationship with Bank Muscat and a track record of profitability over the last 2 to 3 years.


Fatma al Maskiry, AGM — SME Credit, Marketing and Regional Corporates, said, “Bank Muscat congratulates all the enterprising entrepreneurs who have successfully completed the SME training programme.


We appreciate the determination and commitment of the successful graduates to follow their business dreams by acquiring the required skills and knowledge through the unique programme.


The unique initiative benefiting SMEs in Oman plays an important role in filling the gaps and empowering entrepreneurs to chart successful business ventures.


The academy marks a clear progression of the well-defined strategy pursued by the bank in line with the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to support the SME sector.”


The objective of al Wathbah Academy is to impart the required skills and guidance for entrepreneurs drawn from diverse fields to embark on successful SME business ventures.


The 8-month training programme is offered in association with an experienced faculty and consultants, leading to accredited international certification by Project Management Institute (PMI).Khalid al Rawahi from “Old Muscat Tourism”, who spoke on behalf of the graduating batch, thanked Bank Muscat for the unique opportunity in gaining accredited international certification in SME development.


The training focused on key aspects of finance management and marketing initiatives essential to chart successful business ventures, he added.


Aya al Sarhani from “Unique Diamond” noted that the successful completion of the training programme at al Wathbah Academy served as a launching pad for diverse start-up business initiatives by Omani youth. The training experience has imparted valuable skill set and knowledge to chart successful SME business ventures, she added. Enterprising entrepreneurs who completed the SME training programme at al Wathbah Academy are successfully following their business dreams.
