Austrian firm to build Sohar Specialised Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre

Vamed Engineering, an Austrian global firm specialised in construction of multi-dimensional models of healthcare institutions, has won the turnkey contract for the construction of Sohar Specialised Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre. The formal handing over of the Letter of Intent (LOI) was held at the Austrian Economic Delegations office in Shatti Al Qurum yesterday.


Vamed Engineering GmbH represented in Oman by Vamed Engineering GmbH — Oman branch and Austrian Economic and Commercial Delegation in Muscat jointly received the LoI for the design, build and operate the multi-dimensional project from Murtadha al Jamalani, one of the founders and investors of the project with whom a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was earlier entered in to by the local and international investors.


“We have seen many patients from the GCC and MENA region frequently travel abroad for medical treatment either to Europe, the United States of America, India or Thailand for want of a high quality medical service and treatment facilities that the patients cannot get in their own countries for one reason or another”, Murtadha al Jamalani said, adding, “This is the scenario where we want to enter with a super specialty centre for spinal cord surgeries and rehabilitation services.”


Murtadha al Jamalani and Oman Education and Training Investment Holding Company SAOG and Murtadha Business Solutions LLC have in 2015, signed an MoU to establish and develop specialisation related to spinal injuries and rehabilitation centre for treatment, training and research.


“This is a major project where the expertise of Austrian firm Vamed Engineering GmbH through its Oman branch can be utilised on the basis of Contract, Design, Build and Operate of one of its kind spinal injuries hospital and rehabilitation centre”, Gerhard Lackner, The Austrian Economic and Commercial Counsellor in Muscat, told the Observer.
