Australia champions, South Africa finish second

KASAB, JAN 28 - The Australian and South African teams held their place on the podium of the first International Women’s Tent Pegging Championship organised by the International Tent Pegging Federation with the participation of six teams. The championship witnessed a fierce competition between the participating teams. The Egyptian and Sudanese national teams competed for the third place as to determine the winner of the bronze medal. The Australian team was crowned the gold medal, which managed to score 106 points, the South African team came in the second place with 99 points, while the third place went to the Sudanese national team by 86.5 points.


The ceremony was held under the auspices of HE Shaikh Saif Humair Malik al Shuhhy, Dhahira Governorate Governor, in the presence of Mohamed bin Issa al Fairuz, Chairman of the International Tent Pegging Federation, Al Sayyid Munther bin Saif bin Hamed al Busaidy, Chairman of Oman Equestrian Federation, and a number of high-ranking officials. The patron along with the attendees were toured in the craft exhibition, which was held on the sidelines of the competition. Many unique exhibits, including the ones reputed for the Musandam Governorate in general and Khasab in particular were showcased.
