Asian expat held for vandalism

MUSCAT: An Asian expatriate was arrested by the Department of Criminal Investigation, led by the police of Batinah, on charges of vandalism and theft from vehicles.


The accused pleaded guilty and was referred to the authorities for completion of legal proceedings.


Meanwhile, a report from the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said 405 people have been detained for entering the country illegally.


AFRICAN HELD:


An African national was arrested on charges of theft and sabotage of a vehicle in Muscat. He was arrested by the Department of Criminal Investigation, Muscat.


An official source in the ROP said the suspect tracked down one of the citizens after he withdrew RO 25,000 from a bank and kept it in his vehicle.


As the victim reached home, the accused vandalised his vehicle and stole the amount, which was later seized from him.


The accused admitted to the charges and was referred to the judicial authorities for completion of the legal proceedings.


NEWBORN AIRLIFTED:


The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) conducted a medical evacuation of a newborn child suffering from heart problems in Musandam. He was airlifted and taken to Sohar Hospital for further treatment.
