Different nationalities who go to Ohio University were treated to a different kind of cultural treat courtesy of GCC students studying in the university.

The Omani Student’s Association (OSA) in cooperation with the Saudi Student Association presented the event “The Arabian Nights” which included multiple programmes reflective of Gulf’s identity and culture.

Included in the presentation are some traditional dances both from Oman and Saudi Arabia. Omani students presented Madima and al Azi while the Saudi students shared al Mizmar and al Najidiya.

Sarah al Harasia, the head of the OSA in Ohio, said that it was a great pleasure for the Omani students to collaborate with the Saudi students and present a bright cultural picture of the Gulf region to the Americans especially to the residents of the surrounding communities.

“Showcasing the culture and the identity of the Gulf is very important as it gives us opportunity to get people from around the world get familiarise with how we do things thus expand their understanding. This will ultimately promote love.”

“The Association also facilitates regular and ongoing programmes on campus and plans numerous service-learning, cultural, and recreational activities to help Omani students engage with the campus and local community. The association assists students in getting acquainted with American university life,”she added.
