Amman: Arab foreign ministers meeting in Jordan’s Dead Sea region ended closed-door talks on Thursday with few details released, other than they focussed on “regional issues,” according to Jordanian media.

The “consultative meeting” brought together five diplomats with Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman al Safadi at King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre on the Dead Sea.

The ministers discussed “a number of regional issues and cooperation between their countries,” Petra news agency reported.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri, Kuwait’s Sabah Khaled Al Sabah, the United Arab Emirates’ Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Bahrain’s Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al Jubeir arrived in Amman on Wednesday.

They met King Abdullah, who urged “the importance of coordinating Arab positions on regional issues,” according to the royal court.

The Dead Sea meeting comes as countries in the Middle East are showing a growing willingness to reconcile with the government of Syrian President Bashar al Assad, and amid reports that Syria could be re-admitted to the Arab League during this year’s summit to beheld in Tunisia in March.
