Arab Information Ministers Council honours Omani media persons

The 48th session of the Arab Council of the Ministers of Information began at the Arab League Headquarters chaired by Tunisia on Wednesday. The Sultanate’s delegation to the meeting is led by Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour bin Said al Hasani, Minister of Information. The session discusses a number of issues including the role of the Arab media in combating terrorism and the recommendations of the seminar ‘e-media’s role in combating extremist thoughts’. The session also discusses the ‘Arab Media Map for Sustainable Development.’ The map is part of the sustainable development 2030 agenda, which was approved by the UN General Assembly in September 2015. The Arab Ministers of Information Council honoured Omani media persons Ibrahim bin Amer al Yahmadi and Sulaiman al Maamari on the sidelines of its session on Wednesday.

The recognition coincides with the celebration of the Arab Media Day. Ibrahim al Yahmadi has been recognised for his contributions to documentary films.
The Council also honoured ‘Cultural Windows’ programme by Oman Radio that highlights social issues faced by the citizens.
The Council also honoured late Egyptian TV journalist Safaa Hijazi.
