Arab forum to focus on digital economy, innovation in SMEs

SALALAH, Sept 2 - The third Arab Entrepreneurs Forum is all set to start at Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Recreation (SQYCCR) from September 4 with participation from Gulf, Arab, Asian countries, Holland, Britain, and Turkey. The three-day forum would see participation from a large number of businesswomen, entrepreneurs, decision makers, leaders and stakeholders ranging from consultancy, planning, finance, banking, and governmental support agencies. Amna Khadem al Awadi, Chairperson of the Organising Committee and the General Supervisor of the Forum, said the first and second forums were hugely successful in terms of contact, knowledge sharing and resolution of issues related to entrepreneurs.


“The forum gives the participants an opportunity to communicate with international and local experts in the fields of entrepreneurship, e-commerce and scope of innovation in small and medium enterprises (SME) sector. This has emerged as a good learning ground to discuss obstacles and their solutions. Overall the idea is to give job opportunity to job-seekers and boost to economy and overall development requirements,” said Al Awadi.


The event is being organised by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Dhofar chapter in cooperation with the event management company Modern Talent.


The focus of the forum this year would be digital economy. Some successful entrepreneurs have been invited to share their success stories and hardships with the audience, which would constitute mostly the young entrepreneurs and SME operators. “The forum will be accompanied by a series of events that include a specialised technical exhibition that reflects the creativity and innovation of the youth of the Arab world, Free specialised training courses to support young people, and tours to know the land of frankincense Salalah city,” said Al Awadi


The opening ceremony of the forum will see attendance from Hajija bint Jafer al Said, Guest of Honour of the Arab Forum; Shaikha Jawaher bint Khalifa al Khalifa, Member of the Board of Trustees of the World Youth Business Club, and many other national and international dignitaries. Speakers at the event include some economy and e-commerce experts.
