MUSCAT: The applications for taking part in the Sultan Qaboos Industrial Excellence Award opened from Thursday onwards.
Applications will be accepted for a month, said Nahla bint Abdul Wahab al Hamdiyah, Director-General of Industry at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry at a press conference held at the ministry’s headquarters.
The winners will be announced on February 9, in coincidence with the Omani Industry Day, she added.
“The award aims at recognising factories whose performance has been outstanding, and encouraging them to continue improving their performance,” she added.
The ministry has organised His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Cup for the Best Five Factories since the first Industry Year in 1991.
The award has been launched to become the biennial Sultan Qaboos Industrial Excellence Award, she added.
“The number of factories that took part during the 2015 competition stood at 24, including 20 large and 4 medium factories. Three factories have won the award so far, she mentioned.
The turnout for the Sultan Qaboos Industrial Excellence Award 2018 is expected to be high due to the role played by the Directorate-General of Industry at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to promote the award through the many events it organises. — ONA
