Ammar al Balushi tops Gymkhana race

MUSCAT, June 6 - Ammar al Balushi on Honda S2000 claimed the top spot at the Gymkhana race, organised as part of the Ramadhan Motorsports Festival, held on Tuesday at Oman Automobile Association (OAA). Warith al Harthy on Nissan Siliva bagged the second place while Ali al Ardhi finished third on BMW M3. As many as nine drivers participated in the race. Only eight of them reached the final round namely Ammar al Balushi — Honda S2000, Sultan al Balushi — Mercedes A45, Bader al Fari — Subaru Impreza, Warth al Kharousi — Subaru Impreza, Warth al Harthy — Mitsubishi Evo 7, Riyadh al Mabsali — Toyota Supra, Ali al Ardhi — BMW M3 and Mazen al Shanfari — Subaru Impreza STI.


Gymkhana race is a combination of drift, Speed races “Auto-X” and Drag Race. It requires a high level of control by the driver in the car and has to finish the circuit path within best recorded time. Two drivers will enter the circuit at the same time and start the game in same path and change it later. The winner will complete the path within less time. The race is part of sixth edition of the Ramadhan Motorsports Festival at the headquarters of Oman Automobile Association (OAA). The different series of activities and races held during the festival in eight rounds included drifting, SWS races for karting, Auto-X races, karting endurance races, Rally T-3 Cup and Gymkhana.
