Al Busaidy stars in Al Suwaiq victory

Oman national team’s star player Ali al Busaidy struck the winner for Al Suwaiq as they registered an important 1-0 victory against Dhofar in the 19th week of Omantel League. Al Suwaiq’s victory against the Salalah giants have put them on the path to title glory in the league.


On the other hand, Al Shabab continued to drop points as they wrapped up their match against Muscat in a 1-1 draw. The gap between the leader and the second placed Al Shabab is now 13 points.


Al Suwaiq coach Hakeem Shaker stressed on the need for the team to stay focused on getting their hands on the shield.


“Al Suwaiq is not the champion of the league unless we touch the shield of the league,” Hakeem Shaker, head coach of Al Suwaiq said in post-match press conference.


Shaker also felt Al Suwaiq were hardened after their victory against a tough Dhofar team.


“The former champion, Dhofar were a very tough team in the match. They entered the match and were keen for three points. We completed our task successfully in Dhofar and came back with an important victory,” Shaker added.


“Eleven players from the team are working in different military units. However, we benefited from our last Salalah camp,” the Iraqi coach pointed out.


“We regrouped after our last loss against Dhofar in the Super Cup,” Al Suwiaq coach concluded.


The competitions was very high between the clubs that are close to relegation.


Sohar beat Fanja 1-0 and reached the 11th place with 22 points. With same result, Al Salam lost their match against al Mudhaibi.


The Al Nahdha and Al Nasr match finished in a 1-1 draw. Saham secured an important victory against Al Oruba 2-1.


Oman club are in the second last place of the league table after they defeated Mirbat 1-0.
