Al Roya Youth Initiatives Award 2017 for innovation launched

Muscat: The 5th edition of Al Roya Youth Initiatives Award 2017 was launched by Ali bin Khalfan al Jabri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Information, in the presence of innovators and officials at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Wednesday.


Al Jabri said, “These initiatives and awards support the efforts of the Sultanate to encourage youth and motivate them to contribute to the service of the country and its economy”.


He said Al Roya Youth Initiatives Award 2017 includes rewards achievements in culture and science, which is the focus of the government.


“By announcing the launch of the fifth edition of Al Roya Youth Initiatives Award 2017Al Roya, Al Roya renews its commitment to continue supporting our young innovators for four years,” said Hatem bin Hamad al Taee, Editor-in-Chief of Al Roya newspaper, and Supervisor General of the award.


Said al Balushi, Senior Vice-President for Technical Affairs at Occidental Oman, said that the company’s support for Al Roya Youth Initiatives Award stems from its deep belief in the importance of encouraging the youths to innovate and excel in various fields.


Fayza bint Suwailem al Kalbaniyeh, Head of the Economic Section of Al Roya newspaper, in a presentation said there will be 24 awards in eight categories.


The categories include Al Roya Award for Youth Initiatives, Al Roya Award for Youth Initiatives (food security projects), Al Roya Award for Youth Initiatives in arts, Al Roya Award for Youth Initiatives (best digital media project), Al Roya Award for Youth Initiatives (best digital project) and Al Roya Award for Youth Initiatives (community service).


The award aims to enhance innovation in the Sultanate.


Occidental Oman, who sponsors the awards, signed partnership agreement with Al Roya newspaper at the launch ceremony. — ONA
