Al Risalah bags 3×3 basketball title

MUSCAT, April 30 – The women’s committee in Oman Basketball Association organised the second edition of the U-14 3×3 basketball tournament in cooperation with North Al Batinah Governorate educational department. The tournament was organised with the purpose of popularising the 3×3 basketball format among the young students in schools. As many as 13 teams representing various schools had participated in the tournament. The teams were divided into four groups. The Al Risalah school team clinched the title of tournament and they were represented by Ayah al Shafei, Ayah al Abri, Ashjan al Noufli and Nasra al Fazari.
Afraa School came in the second place and they were represented by Ghaida al Qartoobi, Ghadeer al Maamri, Shad al Khaldi and Iman al Shamli. Al Tareef School were positioned as the third placed team and were represented by Noor al Ghaithi, Fatma al Moqbali, Sara al Ajmi and Maryam al Balushi. “The Oman Handball Association considering on development of Omani women who are playing handball. Seeking for talented players in 3×3 handball and working on development of technical players for this category were main goals for this tournament,” Fatma al Harthi, head of handball women committee said.
“We set the plan to organise a similar tournament around the Sultanate. The idea behind that was to select some talented players to represent Oman in the coming tournaments,” Fatma al Harthi added.
