MUSCAT, August 19 - Super Cup champions Al Nasr commenced their campaign in the Omantel League with a 3-0 thrashing of newcomers Al Rustaq at the Seeb Stadium on Saturday. In the first half, Al Nasr raced to a 1-0 lead when Ahmed Abdul Halim netted in the 10th minute. In the second half, Al Rustaq’s Thani al Rushaidi was shown the red card in the 70th minute.

Ten-man Rustaq then conceded two more goals as Al Nasr’s substitutions Hamed al Habsi (74th minute) and Omar al Malki (82nd) were on target.

With this victory, Al Nasr gained their first three points in the league.

Another newcomers Majees held Sohar 1-1 at the Sohar Sports Complex. In the clash of neighbouring clubs, Sohar and Majees could not find the target in the first half.

Sohar went up in the 50th minute with Said al Dhabouni netting the first goal of the match. Ten minutes later, Ahmed Salim struck the equaliser for Majees. The match recorded good attendance by the supporters of both teams which was an indicator of good crowd participation in the upcoming rounds of the Omantel League.
