MUSCAT, Sept 18 - Mohammed al Siyabi inspired Al Shabab to overcome Dhofar 2-1, sharing the lead with Al Nasr and Al Suwaiq (6 points each) by the end of the second week of Omantel League (OL).

Al Nasr now are leading the table thanks to their goal differences, when they defeated newcomers Al Mudhaibi 2-0 away. Al Suwaiq came back from behind to beat Oman Club 3-2 in a dramatic game.

Newcomers Al Salam went past expectations when they defeated Fanja 2-1, flying into the fourth place with 4 points. Al Oruba also have four points after defeating Mirbat 2-0.

In the other fixtures, Mohammed al Ghassani scored one of the fastest Omantel League hat-trick to help Saham defeat Al Nahdha 4-2.

In a comparison with the end of week two last season, five managers were sacked or resigned, where this season has nothing yet.

A thrilling week with 23 goals, where six teams won while one game ended in a draw.

In the key clash of the week, Al Shabab local manager Ali al Khanbashi’s men came back to Barka with a deserved three points after they fought back to beat hosts Dhofar.

Lawson Bekui gave Dhofar the lead in the second minute. Al Shabab, who were the better side in the whole game, had a chance to equalise in the 28th minute but Omar al Malki missed the penalty.

In the second half, Ali al Khanbashi made good substitutions to activate his attacking side. Super substitute Mohammed al Siyabi marked himself as man of the week. He earned a penalty in the 81st minute, converted to a goal by Vinicuis, before scoring a brilliant goal in the injury time, giving his team the all-important three points.

On the other part of Salalah city, Al Nasr continued their good form this season, defeating Al Mudhaibi 2-0 away, thanks to Danyal and Younis al Mushaifri. Al Nasr were in good shape with the Egyptian manager Hamza al Gamal, scoring four goals and conceding null in two games.

At Sultan Qaboos Sport Complex, it was a thrilling first half including five goals in a game went to Al Suwaiq 3-2 against Oman Club. Hatem al Hamhami gave Oman club the lead in 9th minute but Yaseen al Shiyadi equalised for Al Suwaiq. Hatem scored to give Oman Club the lead just one minute later but Al al Busaidy equalised again at the 27th minute. Khalid al Hajri then gave Al Suwaiq the lead for the first time before first half.

The most shocking result of this week happened at Seeb Stadium when Robert Johnson netted a brace to give newcomers Al Salam a convincing victory over Fanja 2-1. It is an important win for Al Salam who may extend their dreams to compete for better places as they have now four points and are in the fourth place.

At Sohar Stadium, Saham came back to winning ways when they defeated Al Nahdha 4-2. Veteran striker Al Gassani was man of the match when he scored a hat-trick in 10 minutes only.

At the same stadium, Sohar completed their unpleasant start when they failed to beat Muscat. Yaqoub al Siyabi gave Muscat the lead in the third minute but Ibrahima equalised for Sohar in the 53th minute. The third week of Omantel League will be played next Thursday and Friday.
