Al Atheer Arabic Poetry Festival opens

865384MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Assad bin Tareq al Said opened at Oman Establishment for Press, Publication and Advertising at Madinat Al Ialam this evening Atheer Festival for Arabic Poetry. The opening ceremony started with a speech by Moosa al Farie, media man and editor-in-chief of Atheer e-newspaper, during which he said that organizing the festival annually document the higher values of beauty. The ceremony included a short documentary about the Omani renowned scientist “Ibn Duraid”. The renowned Arab poet “Adonis” then read out some of his poems.
The poetess Sa’adiyah Mufarreh delivered the jury panel speech during which she said that as per the 865386jury panel assessment “Shamaa fi Al Adam,” by the Yemeni poet Mohammed al Mahdi came first, “Tarkna Nawfizna Li Toyour,” by the Moroccan poet Mohammed Areej came second and “Inni Qalil fa Kawny Kathiri,” by the Syrian poet Yasser Al Atrash came third. The chief guest handed over awards to winners.
Several Omani and Arab poets taking part in the event includes: Said al Saqlawi, Mohammed al Shihi, Omar Mahrous, Ahmed al Farsi and Al Shaimaa al Alawiyah from Oman, Jawad Hattab (Iraq), Abdullah al Saikhan (Saudi Arabia), Dr Mohammed al Ghazzi (Tunisia), Mohammed Abdul Bari (Sudan), Ehab al Bishbishi (Egypt), Seedi Mohammed Weld Bamba (Mauritania), Shaikha al Mutiari (United Arab Emirates), Maisoon al Suwaidan and Dalal al Barood (Kuwait). — ONA
