Air India Express plane veers of taxiway in Kochi

An Air India Express aircraft carrying 102 passengers and six crew members on-board veered off the taxiway at Kochi airport after it arrived from Abu Dhabi early this morning.


However, all passengers were evacuated safely. "All passengers were evacuated through ladder. All safe. No casualties," the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) said.


The nose-wheel of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft also collapsed after it went off the taxiway, an airline source said.

Air India Express IX 452 has been involved in a minor accident at Cochin International Airport at 2.40 am today. The flight from Abudhabi had a safe landing and then moved to taxi way. While moving from taxi way to apron, it took a turn 90 meter before what it was supposed to do resulting the accident wherein the back wheels got struck in a drain near. All the 102 pax were evacuated immediately by using an emergency ladder. All passengers are safe. Since the incident happened outside runway, no other operations were interrupted. CIAL reported it to DGCA. The safety officials of IX are expected to come for further action. Meanwhile CIAL has offered the service of its DART( Disabled aircraft recovery team)
