London: Tottenham Hotspur will look to be aggressive in both halves of the pitch as they aim to end Manchester City’s 15-game winning streak in the Premier League later on Saturday, the visitors’ midfielder Eric Dier has said.

League leaders City have outclassed their rivals during their record-breaking run and are 18 points ahead of fourth-placed Tottenham, who regained their position in the top four with back-to-back wins after a disappointing run in November. “It’s a huge game for us - for them as well,” Dier told the club’s website (www.tottenhamhotspur.com).

“Football has two sides to it — attacking and defending and in both sides of our football we like to be aggressive and on the front foot, so I don’t think that will change at City.

“We’re excited for it... Nobody has beaten them yet so we can’t say what it is exactly that’s going to be the key but I think we have what it takes to beat them. It’s up to us to put these words into action now.”

Tottenham have beaten City in three of the last four league meetings between the sides and will be keen to repeat the feat and alleviate a dismal record of one win in 17 away matches against City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.

England international Dier has been used in central defence in recent games as Tottenham cope with injuries and suspensions to key defenders and the 23-year-old is relishing his partnership with Belgian Jan Vertonghen.

“I’m enjoying it, playing there with Jan. We have a great relationship and we take that onto the pitch.... I can always learn a lot from players like Jan with the experience that he has,” Dier added.

“I’ve really enjoyed playing there with him and hopefully we can do well at City.” — Reuters
