Advances in nuclear medicine reviewed

MUSCAT: The 7th Gulf Nuclear Medicine (GNM) Conference began on Saturday at Grand Millennium Hotel Muscat with the participation of around 250 specialists. The conference, hosted by the Sultanate for the first time, is organised by the Royal Hospital, represented by the Nuclear Medicine Department and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). The four-day conference aims at reviewing the latest advances, novel technologies and cutting-edge research in the field of nuclear medicine, as well as to foster regional collaboration in the promising nuclear medicine field. In addition to providing a unique platform for healthcare professionals working in the field of nuclear medicine to share the latest knowledge from around the region.


Dr Naima al Balushi, Senior Consultant and Head of Nuclear Medicine Department, and Molecular Imaging Center at the Royal Hospital, welcomed the participants and pointed out that the nuclear medicine services started at the Royal Hospital the SQU in 1990.

Over the past three decades, the workers in this field have sought to improve and diversify the services in both hospitals.


The conference includes 39 agendas on endocrinology, pediatrics, and oncology. It is a platform for the workers in nuclear medicine to exchange experiences and practices, as well as to discuss the advanced researches in the same field.
