Adam accident due to wrong overtaking: ROP

Muscat – Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that Tuesday’s road accident near Qarn Al Ala m in Adam was caused by wrong overtaking. It urged the motorists to take caution while overtaking for their safety.


A team of traffic accident experts immediately rushed to the scene of the incident to investigate the tragedy.


As investigations are going on, ROP said that it has intensified the special safety campaign for motorists using the Adam-Thumrait.


It may be noted that that three people died and 13 others were injured after three vehicles collided around 8pm on Tuesday.


As per the reports, two Emiratis nationals died on the spot following the accident which was a result of the attempt to overtake from the wrong side. A Saudi woman died later as per the sources.


Both vehicles caught fire after ramming into each other while one of the vehicles then crashed into another car which had Omanis on board.


As per the reports from the UAE media, the vehicle from the Emirates was carrying six persons from the same family and two of them were burned to death. The other Saudis travellers suffered minor to moderate injuries.
