CANBERRA: Visitors to the Canberra Cultural Diversity Festival had a taste of Omani coffee and dates, and also got a chance to try out Oman’s traditional costumes. The Oman Students’ Association had a pavilion at the festival, through which it made an attempt to showcase the Sultanate and its history to visitors. The members received visitors with coffee, dates and sweets.

Omani coffee and the quality of dates came in for praise from visitors. The members explained the traditional costumes of both genders to the visitors, who got a chance to try out the dishdasha, Omani cap as well as traditional women’s clothes with silver ornaments.

The beauty of Omani fashion drew many visitors, with some trying them out and clicking photos. Visitors were pleased to get their names inscribed in Arabic and receive them as a present.

A presentation on Omani geography was made, and booklets related to tourism in the Sultanate distributed.

Visitors were impressed with Omani guest’s hospitality. Some expressed their desire to visit the Sultanate and get to know it more closely.

The association’s management thanked the members for their efforts. It also thanked the Omani Consulate in Melbourne for providing materials and support for highlighting the role of Omani students in holding cultural and social activities.
