A number of the most prominent CEOs of international airports around the world are expected to participate in the 9th Annual Airports Council International (ACI) Airports Exchange Forum and Exhibition which will be held in Muscat from December 5-7, 2017.

The Sultanate, represented by Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC), is hosting the prestigious event.

High level figures due to attend include Shaikh Aiman bin Ahmed al Hosni, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oman Airports Management Company, Mohamed Yusuf al Bin Falah, CEO of Bahrain Airports, Turki al Juaini, CEO of Al Dammam Airports in the Saudi Arabia, Kjeld Binger, CEO of Airport International Group, operating Queen Alya International Airports in Jordan, and Sani Sener, CEO of TVA which operates Ataturk Airport.

The three-day event will attract more than 1,500 professionals from the airport and related industries, and 120 official speakers, who will gather to discuss the latest developments in the airport sector and to share ideas.

Aiman al Hosni, CEO — OAMC, said it was a great honour for OAMC to be able to host the ACI Exchange, in association with strategic partners. Being selected as the host nation for the annual ACI Exchange reflects the great strides made by the Omani Civil Aviation sector on the international arena, following the enlightened vision of the Sultanate’s government and their continued support for the sector, he said.

The event will be held at the new Oman Conference and Exhibitions Centre at Madinat Al Irfan. Al Hosni added that the Exchange is among the most important gatherings in the aviation and airport management industry. It gathers together hundreds of senior executives and decisions makers from across the world, at a time when the sector is experiencing significant growth under increasing demand for global travel.

As well as offering exhibitions and conference sessions, four specialist workshops will be held during the forum, to discuss the latest developments and trends in the areas of airport security, crisis management, and airport operations and development. A further workshop will also discuss the role of technology in streamlining travel procedures, to create a more passenger friendly environment and to improve passengers’ experiences. Invited guests will also be hosted to visit the new Muscat Airport Terminal Building.

Although Oman is hosting the Exchange for the first time, this is the second time in recent years that the Sultanate, under the management of OAMC, has welcomed experts from the aviation sector to Oman. In March 2015, over 400 aviation experts from around the world were hosted by Aiman al Hosni at the first ever Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer conference, to discuss the challenges and opportunities for opening new airports.
