The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) warned the companies supplying medical equipment and drugs to hospitals and health centres not to manipulate with expiry dates.

A large amount of medical supplies were found to be expired while over 90,000 packets were said to have had their expiry dates manipulated from a company in Seeb, in violation of the Consumer Protection Act that bans circulation of counterfeit goods, or corrupt or imitation.

The warning follows the recent raid by PACP team in coordination with the department of health and ROP during which Asian expatriates were found to change the expiry dates on some medicines.

These counterfeit and expired products can have serious impact on the health of the people. It stressed on the importance of following health and safety regulations.
