Eighty students of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), accompanied by 10 academic staff, will visit the UK from August 12 to 21 as part of “familiarisation” and helping them “explore opportunities for further studies as well as career possibilities”.
Sponsored by the university, these students, comprising 40 boys and 40 girls, accompanied by Dr Yousuf al Hinai and Dr Naifa, will be visiting England and Scotland, according to the office of the Vice-Chancellor.
“The university has chosen the students on the basis of merit and is interested in encouraging them to pursue higher studies. We are sponsoring the trip with the aim of giving them an opportunity to explore the UK,” the VC’s office said.
The students will visit and experience some of the most interesting elements of London and Scotland over these days, as well as dine with the Ambassador of Oman to the UK besides ‘Lunch on Thames’ with an Omani celebrity.
