MUSCAT, Aug 14 - Seven people were killed when four vehicles collided in the Wilayat of Haima in Al Wusta Governorate on Tuesday evening, said Royal Oman Police (ROP) sources. Five people injured in the incident were shifted to Haima and Nizwa hospitals. According to sources, the deceased as well as the injured were members of two families and their friends. “We are yet to ascertain the factors that led to the accident. The bodies of the victims would be sent to their country soon,” said the source. Eyewitnesses told the Observer that a truck lost its control after one of its tyres burst and hit the vehicles that carried two Saudi families. The accident comes close on the ROP’s warning, urging holiday-makers to drive safely. The Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) had launched a safety campaign at tourist destinations.
