For all the science-fiction fans in Oman, here’s what should definitely be in your Netflix to-binge list!

BLACK MIRROR

Exploring the darker side of the internet, our dependence of technology and where it could all lead us, Black Mirror is a must watch.

Based in a dystopian reality, the show brings forth thought provocation ideas and real conversational pieces whilst introducing a refreshing twist on what media, entertainment and social media is, or should be.

STRANGER THINGS

Story follows a group of kids and parents whose lives (literally) get turned upside-down. Based in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, this science-fiction-horror Netflix original is set in the 80’s America.

It pays accurate homage to the 80s with pop culture referencing and popular horror film aesthetics. If you like the works of Steven King and Steven Spielberg, this show will be right up your alley.

SENSE 8

A group of people around the world are suddenly linked mentally, and must find a way to survive being hunted by those who see them as a threat to the world’s order.

A concept that has never been done before, the show also has diverse characters from all over the world. A must watch as the group continues to exist in a psychic group chat like setting as crazy things start to happen…

ALTERED CARBON

A new 10-part series that just released earlier in the month, this show is set in a future where consciousness is digitized and stored, a prisoner returns to life in a new body and must solve a mind-bending murder to win his freedom. Based on a 2002, Richard Morgan novel of the same name, its multi-layered plotline will definitely will have you hooked with its interesting concept and ensures to deliver that otherworldly thrill one seeks from sci-fi action series.

3%

A thriller set in a world sharply divided between progress and devastation, where people are given the chance to make it to the “better side”. A Brazilian production, the show is based in a dystopian near future where only 3% of the candidates succeed. The show follows the complicated, dark and twisted process take place as the minorities make it to the mythical, out of poverty offshore.

THE OA

If you enjoyed Stranger Things, this is the show that should be on your list next. The story follows a previously blind Prairie returns home, returning home after seven years, now in her 20s with her sight restored. While many believe she is a miracle, others worry that she could be dangerous. The show blends the very out of the box components of its make up with a very down to earth, realist setting that is like the reality we all know. The visuals in the show are endlessly pleasant which justifies the eight hour binge watch this show demands.
