AL BURAIMI: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Tuesday celebrated the opening of Saraa Border Checkpoint in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi as part of its strategy aimed at modernising police services provided at the Sultanate’s official border crossings. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Dr Said bin Khamis al Kaabi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), and was attended by Maj Gen Hamad bin Sulaiman al Hatmi, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the chief guest announced the official opening of the border checkpoint, and then he took a tour around the facility accompanied by Maj Gen Al Hatmi. He was briefed about the sections and services provided by the checkpoint. The new border checkpoint boasts administrative offices, passport counters and customs area. Speaking at the event, Dr Al Kaabi said the opening of Saara crossing point comes as a true addition to the achievements of the blessed Renaissance led by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos adding that it will facilitate travelling between the two friendly countries. — ONA
