MUSCAT: The weekly report of the joint inspection team at the Ministry of Manpower showed that the number of workers violating the Labour Law from December 17th till 23rd stood at 401, including 324 commercial workers, 38 farm workers and 39 housemaids and their equivalents. The inspection teams caught 396 workers including 172 absconding workers, 190 astray workers and 34 workers with other violations. The Governorate of Muscat witnessed the largest number of workers violating the law with 120 followed by the Governorate of North Al Batinah with 71 workers. On the other hand, the Manpower Ministry statistics showed that 471 expatriate workers were deported for violating provisions of the Labour Law and the ministerial decisions executing the law. — ONA
