Muscat: The new e-link established between the Ministry of Health and Directorate General of Civil Status has made the process of getting the birth certificate easier. According to sources, Royal Oman Police ROP in coordination with Ministry of Health MoH has come out with an agreement under which “parents can directly go to the Directorate General of Civil Status to get the birth certificate for their newborns.”
Till now, parents had to seek a letter issued from the hospital and take it to the Directorate General of Civil Status. “From now, parents will receive a message sent to the contact number notifying the date to collect the birth certificate,” said the sources. Parents now can skip the extra step of visiting the MoH and directly head to the Directorate General of Civil Status.
ROP has also revised the fees for a new birth certificate, which will cost RO2, while the death certificate will be issued free.
