GOLDEN ROCK: Devotees pray before a huge rock especially covered with layers of gold at Kyaiktiyo pagoda on Mount Kyaiktiyo. A popular Buddhist pilgrimage site and a tourist attraction in Myanmar’s Mon State, the Kyaiktiyo pagoda, also known as Golden Rock, rests by the the edge of a granite boulder covered with gold leaves pasted on by devotees. According to legend, the Golden Rock is perched on a strand of Buddha’s hair while others admire it as a natural rock formation. — AFP
