325 expatriate workers deported

MUSCAT: The weekly report of the joint inspection team at the Ministry of Manpower pointed out that the number of workers violating the Labour Law from October 8 to 14, 2017 stood at 547, including 440 commercial workers, 52 farm workers and 55 housemaids and their equivalents.


The inspection teams caught 540 workers, including 265 absconding workers, 246 illegal workers and 29 workers with other violations.


The Governorate of North Al Batinah witnessed the largest number of workers violating the law with 172, followed by the Governorate of Muscat with 154 workers. The competent authorities at the Ministry of Manpower are taking the legal procedures against them.


On the other hand, the statistics of the Ministry of Manpower showed that 325 expatriate workers were deported for violating provisions of the Labour Law and the ministerial decisions executing the law. — ONA
