By Lakshmi Kothaneth — MUSCAT: April 23 - Students in Oman get ready for the John Maxell Team Global Youth Initiative to be held in Muscat on Saturday. Half a million-young people will be served this coming April through The John Maxwell Team Global Youth Initiative. The series of events are being held worldwide on Monday, April 24 through Sunday, April 30 in large cities and small villages internationally.
Almost 300 students have signed up for the session from Omani and community schools in the Sultanate. In Oman, the event is being held in association with the Oman National Training Institute. The John Maxwell Team Global Youth Initiative is an international movement comprising hundreds of free community events with topics ranging from leadership development, to anti-bullying, self-esteem and more to help the youth in communities around the world thrive.
The event is being held here for the first time. Here in Muscat, Nalin Chandna in association with the Oman National Training Institute will host ‘The Youth Leadership Weekend’. The event will be held on April 29 in multiple sessions at Oman National Training Institute’s state of the art training centre in Al Khuwair.
A certified trainer from the John Maxwell Team, Chandna said, “We will be focusing on positive self-image, positive character, compassion towards others and using failures as stepping stones to success. Unfortunately, these life skills are not taught in schools. We are looking forward to meet teenagers from 13 to 18.”
“Through The John Maxwell Team Global Youth Initiative, we have the chance to influence tomorrow’s leaders today,” added Chandna. “With John Maxwell, I’ve learned that leadership develops daily, not in a day. Our goal is to spark an intentional and lifelong leadership interest in today’s youth.”
As certified members take to their communities to make a difference, events will be happening all around the world.
