2,531 requests for customs exemption

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry explained that it studied 2,531 requests for exemption from fees (Form B) provided through “Bayan” the electronic system of the Directorate General of Customs, the Royal Oman Police (ROP). Additionally, 193 custom-exemption applications for imports of equipment, spare parts, raw materials were studied since the launch of the service on March 28th 2016 till the end of December 2016.


Mohammed bin Said al Mahrouqi, Director of Exemption Department at the Directorate-General of Industry, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said the ministry is seeking to bring various industrial investments through incentives offered to investors in the industrial sector, as the Sultanate has promising investment opportunities in the industrial sector. He added that the Sultanate also offers various raw materials and qualified human resources and other factors that would give this sector a chance for continuous and steady growth, pointing out that the ministry has transferred submission of applications for custom exemption to Bayan system in the Directorate General of Customs at ROP. — ONA
