By Kabeer Yousuf — MUSCAT: May 16 - Twenty-two cancer patients will this year fulfill their long-cherished dream of performing Haj. The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs has made all arrangements to take 22 Omanis (six men, 16 women), who are suffering from different types of cancer, to Mecca. “Helping the distressed has always been our top priority,” said Hamoud al Amry, Deputy Head of the Haj Department at the ministry. “We accorded priority to those suffering from diseases. Cancer patients were on top of the list. We are glad the ministry is able to support them in some way possible,” he said. These pilgrims are undergoing treatment at the Royal Hospital for breast, lung, colon and intestine cancers. They will be part of the total number of Haj pilgrims (14,000) from Oman this year.
