MUSCAT: The number of samples analysed by the Food and Water Laboratories Centre and the sub laboratories of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR) during February 2017 stood at 1,459 including 516 at the Food and Water Laboratories Centre in the Governorate of Muscat and 943 at the sub-labs in the governorates. The Food and Water Laboratories Centre has five specialised divisions that are provided with modern equipment to assess quality and detect the different pollutants at food and water, such as the microbiological and chemical pollution, the pollution with heavy mineral and radioactive pollution. The number of samples tested by the water general tests division (heavy metals, water chemistry and radiation) in February 2016 stood at 210 compared to 52 by the organic tests division, 217 at the microbiology division and 37 at the food division.
