1,200 scouts, guides to camp at Ashor mountain

The Directorate General for Scouts and Guides at the Ministry of Education has prepared meetings and forums for participants from Oman and GCC countries for the summer holiday.


One of the most important event is the scouting camp in Ashor mountain in Dhofar which begins from July 22 and concludes on August 16.


The camp includes 7 activities targeting scouts, guides and leaders from different scouting divisions.


Ibtisam al Ameri, Assistant Director General, says the camps are one of the educational methods that qualify, educate and supply youth with the required abilities.


“They live in wild nature, connect with it and learn many life skills”, she said.


About 1,200 participants will take part in the event including participants from the GCC and other Arab countries.


“All facilities, sport complexes, training halls are set to receive the guests in Ashor mountain,” she


added.


The activities cover scientific, cultural, scouting, technical, sports, social and voluntary aspects besides training courses.


“We will also have discovery journeys, creative nights and tours around Dhofar to introduce participants to important landmarks in the governorate. There will also be voluntary works in Salalah to enhance ethical sides of the scouts and guides and ignite competitiveness spirit,” says Ameri.
