MUSCAT, June 13 - As many as 100 players took part in the hockey league which was organised by Summer Sports Programme in cooperation with the Bausher club. The players were distributed into different teams that included junior and some national team players. Teams played finals round from last 8 round.
Through the league, organisers aimed to provide hockey basics to junior players with the advantage of playing with some national team players.
Sulaiman Awlad Thani, General Secretary of Bausher club, was the chief guest in presence of Dr Khamis al Rahbi, General Secretary of Oman Hockey Association, and other officials. The chief guest distributed awards for the top team’s players.
“We appreciate the efforts of main committee of Summer Sports Programme at Ministry of Sports Affairs to organise this hockey league at Bausher club’s hockey stadium. We succeed to bring around 100 players to be part in this league.”
“Our focus is to develop the skills of junior players as they are the future of Oman,” Sulaiman al Salti, board member of Bausher club and tournament manager, said.
“Summer programme is a great platform for youth to learn technical skills in different sports. We thanked the members of programme to host the hockey league at Bausher club,” Al Salti added.
